February Newsletter 2017

April 10, 2017 by Sally Mortimore

A slightly thinner newsletter this February, but interesting nonetheless.

Dates for your diaries: London IRO conference – 16th June 2017 hosted by the City of London – we can only have 2 IROs from each contract but that does mean we can legitimately have 6 places if we are careful!!

Newsletter
[Ealing Council, IRO client] “IROs provide good quality written records following each review. IROs bring additional safeguarding scrutiny by monitoring children’s progress between reviews. The timeliness of LAC reviews and the level of participation by children in their reviews, both at 96%, are very good”.
Ofsted, October 2018
[Aidhour] Analysis and evaluation of performance are meticulous. Quality assurance, including case auditing, is robust and leads to sustained improvements.
Ofsted
***** is my IRO and even though I have had 8 different social workers since I have been in care, he has been the same. Now he helps me chair my own reviews.

[Aidhour] support local authority leaders and managers to routinely identify where services for children need to be improved in order to be consistently good or better than good.
Ofsted
[Brent Council, IRO client] There is good evidence of IRO scrutiny and challenge with good impact.
Ofsted, May 2018
Aidhour were professional in their approach to the tendering process and we negotiated a contract with minimal problem.
Head of Children’s Safeguarding, County Council
It has been such a pleasure to work with Aidhour on this case. The IRO’s observations, pointing out things that were not going right, insistence to ensure they are worked on and openness in approach, taught me a lot. Thank you!
Independent Social Worker
[Aidhour Associate] is thorough but fair, and has a lovely way of engaging with our most challenging young people, and interacting with the staff. We appreciate her advice and she is approachable. I have found the Director to be responsive and cooperative to any contact or request I make and I have never had any cause to raise any issue of concern or to make a complaint. Aidhour have kept within our agreed budget limits.
Head of Children’s Safeguarding, County Council
[Aidhour] Case auditing is well established and ensures that leaders and managers are confident that they know what is happening on the ground.
Ofsted
My IRO knew me since I was three, he saw me going through primary and secondary.
